155 - AS IV.84. Unexecuted design for a church in Lincoln's Inn Fields, c. 1695–96. Sketch elevation, drawn freehand by Wren to a scale of 20 ft to an inch. Brown ink over scorer. 149 x 195 mm. Inscribed by Hawksmoor: 20f in An Inch.

Note to 155: This drawing can be associated with Wren's unexecuted designs for 'St Mary-in-the-Fields' of c. 1695–96 (WS 9, pl. 31; Sekler 1956, 109; WS 18, pl. 8; Jeffery 1988). Although lacking a dome, the design should be compared with Wren's ink sketch of the same in the Westminster City Archives (WS 18, pl. 8, right). The design is approximately 118 ft wide. Wren's freehand technique should be compared with 79, 262, 320, and 410.
